HC Deb 17 March 1993 vol 221 c268W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make representations to his EC colleagues for the amendment of CITES to secure improved enforcement of provisions under article 111 relating to the import of animals for use by souvenir photographers.

Mr. Maclean

Application of article III of CITES is already mandatory throughout the European Community under the provisions of EC Council regulation 3626/82. I shall be happy to investigate, or to pass to the European Commission or CITES secretariat, as appropriate, any evidence of failure to implement or enforce the convention.
