HC Deb 15 March 1993 vol 221 c89W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what are the estimated(a) frequency and (b) volume of radioactive material shipments past the Northern Ireland coast likely to be if the Sellafield thermal oxide reprocessing plant opens.

Mr. Norris

During the first 10 years of operation of the Sellafield thermal oxide reprocessing plant about five to 10 shipments a year would pass through the eastern side of the Irish sea, each of approximately 20 tonnes of spent fuel.
