HC Deb 15 March 1993 vol 221 cc49-50W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what measures have been taken to protect the people of east Antrim and Northern Ireland in the event of an accident in the north channel involving shipments of radioactive material.

Mr. Norris

I have been asked to reply.

Nuclear fuel flasks are designed to international standards to withstand severe accidents. The transporters of radioactive material have in place appropriate plans in the case of marine accidents for the recovery of flasks.
