§ Dr. Lynne JonesTo ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will make it his policy to support a European defence retraining and readaption programme to fund retraining programmes for redundant defence industry workers and provide readaption aid for affected parts of the community.
§ Mr. Sainsbury[holding answer 8 March 1993]At the initiative of the European Parliament 130 mecu was entered into the EC budget for 1993 for a programme of assistance to defence-dependent areas to be called KONVER. We are currently awaiting the Commission's proposals for implementing this programme.
