HC Deb 11 March 1993 vol 220 c692W
Ms Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many women aged 60 years and over have had the amount of invalidity benefit reduced on reaching the retirement age of 60 years in the latest year for which figures are available.

Miss Widdecombe

This information is not available. For women aged 60–64, the rate of invalidity benefit (IVB) is based on their retirement pension entitlement. This may be higher or lower than the previous rate of IVB. As at 30 March 1991, the latest date for which figures are available, 37,100 women between 60 and 64 were assessed for invalidity benefit at their pension rate.
