HC Deb 10 March 1993 vol 220 cc616-7W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the deficit of the Whittington hospital for 1991–92; what is the projected deficit for 1992–93; and how this will be paid.

Mr. Sackville

The balance on the audited income and expenditure account of the Whittington hospital for 1991–92 showed a breakeven operating position. This was after a temporary increase of £600,000 in the cash limit from the regional health authority (RHA) under the brokerage arrangements operated by them.

The projected unaudited net income and expenditure deficit for 1992–93 is presently £70,000 after regional support. The RHA is currently in discussion with the hospital to identify ways in which the deficit can be covered.
