HC Deb 10 March 1993 vol 220 c564W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what are the criteria used by his Department for the calculation of spending on roads leading to red routes in Greater London; how much has been spent in Islington; and how much is further planned on the Al red route in Islington.

Mr. Norris

The specific traffic management measures to be introduced on and adjacent to red routes will be determined in local plans to be prepared under the direction of the traffic director in accordance with his network plan.

Some £680,000 has been spent by the Department on approved works on roads adjacent to the A1 pilot red route in Islington. Apart from maintenance, there are no plans at present for further expenditure on the pilot scheme in Islington, but the traffic director will be reviewing the route in due course to ensure that it is operating in accordance with his network plan for red routes generally.
