HL Deb 10 March 1993 vol 543 c59WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the safe environmental management of the 68,500 kilogrammes of plutonium now at Sellafield requires additional physical protection measures and, if so, what is the estimated cost of such measures and from what source will the expenditure be met.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Baroness Denton of Wakefield)

Appropriate and rigorous measures are taken to ensure the safety and security of all plutonium stocks held at Sellafield. The costs are a matter for British Nuclear Fuels plc.
