To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish a table showing the number of new-build(a) general needs, (b) special needs and (c) sheltered houses constructed by local authorities in each year since 1980.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 20 January 1993]: Information on housebuilding by category of need is not readily available for the years prior to 1986, and could be extracted only at disproportionate cost. The available information is set out in the table.
