To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what arrangements his Department makes to issue licences for show jumping events; if such licences stipulate the height and type of jump or any other obstacles; and what inspection or enforcement his Department carries out of show jumping events;

(2) what arrangements are made for his Department's officials to inspect the condition of show jumping horses or the suitability of the type and height of jumps at major show jumping events; what guidance his Department gives to official bodies representing show jumping on the welfare implications of show jumping courses to horses; and if he will make a statement.

However, I understand that anyone wishing to run an event under the rules of the British Show Jumping Association must apply to the association for authority to do so, and must run the event according to those rules.
