To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what consideration is being given to the establishment of a direct through route from the east coast main line to the channel tunnel link railway; and if the north London line St. Pancras terminal is being considered as an option.

Direct through services along the east coast main line to Paris and Brussels should begin al the end of 1995. These services are not dependent on the proposed new railway line between the channel tunnel and London, on which my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport will make an announcement as soon as possible.
