HC Deb 08 March 1993 vol 220 cc449-50W
Ms. Quin

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give the total amount spent by the Government to date on know-how projects.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Expenditure under the fund is as follows:

£1,000
1989–90 2,117
1990–91 13,668
1991–92 49,364

Total spending for 1992–93 will not be available until later this year.

Ms. Quin

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many civil servants in each standard planning region have been seconded to work on know-how projects.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Nine civil servants from south-east region, four from north-west region and one from east midlands region have been seconded to work on know-how projects.

Ms. Quin

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many know-how projects have been supported to date; if he will list these with the names of the agencies or companies responsible for undertaking them; and in each case what proportion of the total cost was met by Government.

Mr. Lennon-Boyd

The know-how fund has supported more than 650 projects to date. A list of our activities by country, cost, purpose and project status is available from the libraries of the House. To break this down further to include details on each agency or company participating in the projects and what proportion of the total cost was met by the Government would involve disproportionate staff costs.
