HL Deb 08 March 1993 vol 543 c48WA
Baroness Jeger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Who is the present owner of the Grade 1 listed building, Heveningham Hall, and whether they are satisfied that the conditions of planning and listed building controls are being fully enforced.

Viscount Astor

I understand from Cork Gully, as receivers appointed by the United Bank of Kuwait plc, that the former owning company, I D Investment Development AG, has been dissolved. Cork Gully and the United Bank of Kuwait plc are in possession of the estate by virtue of legal charges secured on the freehold.

I am not aware of any breach of planning or listed building controls at the estate. If the noble Baroness has any information to the contrary, I would ask her to bring it to the attention of Suffolk Coastal District Council, as local planning authority, in the first instance. All restoration and maintenance work carried out by the receivers has been done in close consultation with English Heritage and the district council.
