HC Deb 05 March 1993 vol 220 cc302-3W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) what is the latest figure for people employed in the tourist industry in Wales; and if he will make a statement;

(2) how many people were employed in the tourist industry in Wales in 1990–91 and 1991–92; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Hunt

In September 1989 there were 71,100 people directly employed in tourism in Wales. More recent data are not available. The definition of these industries is consistent with that of table 8.1 in theEmployment Gazette a monthly periodical produced by the Employment Department, which is available in the Library of the House.
