HC Deb 05 March 1993 vol 220 cc349-50W
Sir Russell Johnston

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what arrangements are being made to ensure that moneys raised within the area of the Highland health board through the sale of Craig Dunain hospital are re-invested in community care in the health board area.

Mr. Stewart

Health boards and NHS trusts are allowed to retain the full receipts from the disposal of surplus property, to invest in developments which improve patient care within their area. Community based developments to replace any long-stay institution will be required before it is closed and will be funded from a number of sources including the normal health service capital programme and local authorities.
