§ 18. Mr. Barry JonesTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement concerning the economy and the imposition by the United States of America of tariffs upon United Kingdom-manufactured goods.
§ Mr. PortilloThe United Kingdom is concerned about recent developments in trade relations with the US, in particular the imposition of anti-dumping duties on steel, which could have a significant impact on sections of the steel industry. The United Kingdom believes that it is essential that the dialogue between the Commission and US continues and that these disputes do not escalate into a trade war.
