§ Ms. WalleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what research contracts his Department has let into measures for controlling the routes of ships carrying dangerous or polluting cargoes while they are in British waters; and what plans he has for future research.
§ Mr. NorrisA contract was let in 1989 to assess shipping movements along the west coast of Scotland since the deep water route to the west of the Hebrides was implemented.
The Department is also involved in the European Community project "Euret", which is directed at the development of vessel traffic systems.
