Mr. Nigel Griffiths

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the names of advisers appointed to advise on the forthcoming sale by the Government of shares in British Telecom, specifying for each adviser the area of work and date of appointment.

No decisions have yet been taken on either the timing of the next sale of shares in BT or the number of shares to be offered for sale.

S. G. Warburg has been appointed as financial adviser, global co-ordinator and lead United Kingdom broker for the forthcoming BT share offer. The names of companies invited to tender for an appointment, but not subsequently appointed, are treated as commercially confidential.
