To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people were breath tested by the police in each region during the 1991–92 and 1992–93 drink-drive campaigns; and how many tests were positive.

The Association of Chief Police Officers has collected figures for the number of screening breath tests required and the number of positive results in each police force area between 19 December 1991 and 1 January 1992 and between 19 December 1992 and 1 January 1993. These are given in the following table:
