To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make an announcement about the proposed Ashford international station.

§ Mr. Freeman
The public expenditure settlement for 1993–94 allows for British Rail to undertake urgent track and signalling works for the proposed Ashford international passenger station. What exactly needs to be provided is still under discussion and I shall write to my hon. Friend as soon as decisions have been reached.
