§ 18. Mr. ClappisonTo ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will make a statement about the Government's plans for teacher training.
§ Mr. ForthLast summer, my right hon. Friend introduced a reform of initial teacher training for secondary teachers which required a decisive shift to more school-based training. We have said that we shall be announcing proposals for reform of training for primary teachers around Easter. Our object is to make training more relevant to the needs of schools and the national curriculum. We shall keep the question of further reform under review to that end.
