To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information Her Majesty's Government have concerning the construction by Libya of a copy of the Rabta Pharma-150 chemical weapons plant in Tarbunah, near Tripoli.

The Government believe that Libya is constructing a chemical weapons factory at Tarhunah, some 40 miles from Tripoli which, when completed, may be capable of producing both mustard and nerve agents. The United Kingdom is actively involved, with its Australia group partners, in seeking to prevent supplies to Libya's chemical weapons programme.
