To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how much money his Department has allocated to the Welsh Development Agency for the last five years for the purpose of treating rivers and streams in Wales polluted by abandoned coal mines.

Individual reclamation schemes can include work to contain sites and prevent contamination from spreading. Planned spending in 1993–94 is some £32,000,000 to reclaim around 1,200 acres.
