§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what consideration was given to including the electric field component of electromagnetic fields as a 26 parameter in the study being conducted under the direction of Dr. Ray Cartwright and Dr. David Grant for the United Kingdom co-ordinating centre for cancer research, established by her Department in April 1991.
§ Mr. SackvilleThe United Kingdom co-ordinating committee for cancer research—UKCCCR—is entirely independent of the Government. However, I understand that exposure to electromagnetic fields is one of the hypotheses that the UKCCCR study is considering. The study is being conducted under the direction of Sir Richard Doll.
