§ Ms LynneTo ask the Prime Minister what steps he will take to enable the Doctors and Dentists Review Body to propose measures to eliminate differentials between the earnings of doctors and dentists and comparable professions.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Government do not consider it appropriate to determine pay rates for doctors and dentists by comparison with the earnings of other professional groups. Each case for remuneration should be considered on its merit, taking account of the terms and conditions of service enjoyed, the labour market in which the profession operates and what is affordable.
