§ Mr. Charles WardleAn extensive study into police paperwork is being undertaken. It will propose ways in which the administrative procedures following an arrest can be streamlined without jeopardising the rights of suspects. A review was also undertaken last year to examine ways in which the demands on the police for statistical and other information from the Home Office could be reduced. Computerisation and civilianisation are also being pursued as ways of relieving operational officers of administrative tasks.
