§ Mr. HagueThe management of the Resettlement Agency is a matter for Mr. Tony Ward, the chief executive. He will write to the hon. Member and a copy will be placed in the Library.
Letter from Tony Ward to Mr. Nick Raynsford, dated 22 June 1993:
As the Resettlement Agency is an Executive Agency, the Secretary of State has asked me to write to you directly to respond to your Parliamentary Question to him, about the numbers of people that have been accommodated in the course of the last two years in resettlement units. This is something which falls within the responsibilities he has delegated to me as Chief Executive of the Agency. Before the dates of 1 June 1991–31 May 1993, 827,090 bed spaces were occupied in resettlement units managed by the Resettlement Units Executive Agency. You will appreciate that the number of beds occupied masks a complex situation. Some customers stay for one night, and others for considerably longer, whilst some customers have presented themselves for admissions at different units over the two year period. If you would like any further information, please let me know.
