§ Mr. AingerTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what regular or recent monitoring his Department carries out of background levels of hydrocarbons and other pollutants in Cardigan bay and other Welsh coastal waters.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesThe Welsh Office does not carry out such monitoring. However, monitoring for a wide range of contaminants, including hydrocarbons, is undertaken at various locations off the Welsh coastline by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the National Rivers Authority and the Countryside Council for Wales.
