§ Mr. ClaphamTo ask the Secretary of State for Education when he intends to extend the national curriculum and tests to the private education sector.
§ Mr. Robin SquireMy right hon. Friend has no plans to extend the national curriculum and the associated testing and assessment arrangements to schools in the independent sector. It is for independent schools themselves to decide whether to implement the national curriculum. Some have already decided to do so. As the arrangements become better established, I expect many more to follow.
