§ Mr. MandelsonTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the direct effect on revenue in the years 1993–94, 1994–95 and 1995–96 of introduction of the clauses in chapter II of part I of the Finance (No. 2) Bill had they come into effect from 6 April.
§ Sir John CopeThe revenue yield depends on the turnover of the national lottery, which is difficult to estimate. Annual turnover in the region of £1.5 billion would provide a duty yield of £180 million. This would be broadly offset by reductions in the yield of other taxes including those on other forms of gambling.
