To ask the Attorney-General if he will make a statement about the use of his power to appeal against lenient sentences.

The Attorney-General

Since 1989, when the power to refer unduly lenient sentences was introduced, 117 references have been made to the Court of Appeal, which has increased just over 82 per cent. of the sentences it has reviewed.
