HC Deb 21 June 1993 vol 227 c13W
Mr. Ralph Howell

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many privilege holidays in addition to bank holidays are enjoyed by employees in central Government.

Mr. Dorrell

Civil servants receive 21½ days' holidays, in addition to the eight public and bank holidays in the calendar year. These holidays are fixed by tradition and taken as follows: a half-day on Maundy Thursday afternoon, a day for the Queen's birthday and an additional day at Christmas.
