§ Mr. Nigel GriffithsTo ask the President of the Board of Trade how his Department will be participating at the Copenhagen European conference in June on labelling products; and which United Kingdom good practices in the labelling of products he will submit to the European Commission study of this issue.
§ Mr. McLoughlinMy Department was represented by an official from consumer affairs division. The conduct of the study is a matter for the European Commission but we understand that it will be identifying priorities, and considering how best to bring consumer and trade interests together to assist in the process. My Department will aim to keep in touch with developments, co-operate fully in this work and ensure the European Commission is aware of current United Kingdom practices.
