HC Deb 14 June 1993 vol 226 c417W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what estimate he has of the numbers of qualified teachers who have(a) taken voluntary redundancy or (b) been made compulsorily redundant, in each of the years 1991 and 1992.

Mr. Forth

The table shows the number of teachers aged 50 and over who retired prematurely by reason of redundancy from maintained schools in England and claimed their superannuation benefits during the financial years 1990–91 to 1992–93. Information on other redundancies of teachers is not centrally recorded.

1992 1 1,464
1993 1 2,028
