§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish, on a regional basis, the number of farmers deprived of quota as a result of the new sheep quota regulations.
§ Sir Hector MonroThe main allocations of sheep annual premium quota are still being made and it will also be open to any farmer to apply to the national reserve for allocation from that source. Until those applications have been received and processed it will not be possible to say how many have been successful.
§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to announce details of the distribution of reserve sheep quota.
§ Sir Hector MonroDetails of how national reserve quota will be allocated will be announced once the necessary legislation has been placed before the House. We hope to be able to do this before the summer recess.
§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what financial plans he has to support those farmers deprived of sheep quota after the national reserve is exhausted; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir Hector MonroIt remains to be seen what will be the level of demand for allocation from the national reserve of sheep annual premium quota. The national reserve is the mechanism laid down in the European legislation to deal with producers who have not received an initial allocation of quota.
