§ Dr. MawhinneyI have decided that the payment levels for the new programmes which take effect on 1 July should be as follows:
Annual payment for a General Practitioner with average Great Britain list size (adjustments pro rata for other list sizes) £ Health Promotion Programmes Band 1 (programmes to reduce smoking) 420 Band 2 (programmes for patients at risk from hypertension, or with established coronary heart disease (CHD) or stroke) 1,135 Band 3 (full programme for prevention of CHD and stroke) 2,015 Diabetes and Asthma Programmes Annual Payments Diabetes Allowance (per GP) 350 Asthma Allowance (per GP) 350 There will also be a transitional protection scheme: final details of this remain under discussion with the General Medical Services Committee of the British Medical Association.
