HC Deb 14 June 1993 vol 226 c429W
Sir Terence Higgins

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what arrangements have been made to inform constituents of the right hon. Member for Worthing who have objected to the Government's preferred route for the A27 and prefer a bypass of the arrangements for the public inquiry; what deadline has been set for the proposal of alternatives to the Government route; and what assessment he has made of whether all objectors will receive notice in sufficient time to prepare representations.

Mr. Key

All those who have submitted objections to the published proposals for the A27 Worthing-Lancing improvement scheme have already been notified about the arrangements for the public inquiry starting on 28 September. Those wishing to propose an alternative have been requested to submit details to the Department by 18 June. This will enable a plan of the alternatives to be drawn up by the Department's consultants and for it to be published in sufficient time for the public to prepare their representations on it before the start of the inquiry.
