To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any member of the initial Manchester gaol tender evaluation panel has been recruited by any of the firms involved in submitting tenders for running that prison.

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the director general of the prison service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question whether any member of the panel evaluating the bids for the management of Manchester prison has been recruited by any of the firms involved in submitting tenders. No actual or proposed member of the evaluation panel has been recruited by any of the tendering companies.
