HL Deb 10 June 1993 vol 546 c59WA
Lord Mulley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they expect to ratify the convention outlawing chemical weapons, signed in January last, and whether an Act of Parliament will be required for such ratification.

Baroness Denton of Wakefield

Primary legislation is necessary to enable the United Kingdom to fulfil its obligations under the convention. We intend to ratify the convention when this legislation, which will be introduced when legislative time permits, has been adopted.
