§ Mr. Simon CoombsTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will make a statement on the growth and development of industrial heritage tourism.
§ Mr. SproatAs the birthplace of the industrial revolution, Britain has a uniquely rich industrial heritage, which is of interest to both domestic and overseas visitors. The English tourist board has identified industrial heritage tourism as a growth area, and launched its promotional campaign "Experience the Making of Britain" earlier this year, in partnership with the private sector. The English tourist board will evaluate the effect of the campaign later this year. I understand that early indications are encouraging.
