HC Deb 07 June 1993 vol 226 cc58-9W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) if she will list the funding assessment that has been made by each of the London borough councils to support a person living in residential care under the care in the community legislation;

(2) what advice she has given to people or organisations running residential care homes in areas where the present agreed rates of support are below existing income support benefits; and if she will make a statement;

(3) what account local authorities are required to take of religious requirements when assessing what funding will be paid for a resident living in a residential home under the existing care in the community legislation; and if she will make a statement;

(4) what right of appeal exists for people running residential care homes if they disagree with the funding assessment made by the local authority for a resident living within the home; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Bowis

Contracts for residential care or nursing home services are negotiated and agreed between local authorities and home owners. Local authorities are not required to submit details of the agreements reached.
