§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Education what steps he has taken to implement the proposals contained in chapter 6.2 of the European Commission's fifth environmental action programme of 1992 on support material on radioactivity and radiation for teachers in primary and secondary education.
§ Mr. Robin SquireTo implement the proposals in this action programme, a series of EC meetings was held in 1992 with the aim of developing curriculum materials relevant to radioactivity and radiation protection: a representative of Her Majesty's inspectorate of schools took part in this work. The materials have been produced and have been tested in schools in a number of member states (not the United Kingdom): the final version of the material will be made available towards the end of this year.
