To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his Department's policy on maximising the financial return from the sale of surplus land.

§ Mr. Hanley
It is my Department's policy to seek to maximise the return for the taxpayer when disposing of 825W surplus sites. This is normally best achieved through open market competitive sale once the full planning potential of the property has been explored.
