§ Mr. EggarThe Government are concerned to ensure maximum cost-effectiveness in their expenditure on decommissioning and radioactive waste mangement operations. For new projects, the aim will be to put every contract out to competition unless there is a clear reason why this would not provide best value for money. We are also systematically reviewing projects currently under way to establish whether there is scope for increased competition.
