To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Eltham (Mr. Bottomley) of 7 July,Official Report, columns 158–59, if he will ensure that any new proposals in respect of the east London river crossing will not run through, over or under any part of Oxleas wood; if new proposals in respect of the east London river crossing will be the subject of a full environmental impact assessment in accordance with the terms of EC directive 85/337/EEC, section 105A of the Highways Act 1980 and the Highways (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations 1988, and that there will be a public inquiry; and if in bringing forward new proposals, he will consider alternatives to a road link.
