HC Deb 27 July 1993 vol 229 c957W
Mr. Tipping

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will list the declarations of interests of directors of the British Coal Corporation notified to him since 1983.

Mr. Eggar

[holding answer 26 July 1993]: No.

Mr. Tipping

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what guidelines are laid down when appointing directors of the British Coal Corporation about the declaration of pecuniary interests; how long they have been in existence; and what plans there are to revise them.

Mr. Eggar

[holding answer 22 July 1993]: The appointments of British Coal Corporation members are subject to the provisions of the Coal Industry Nationalisation (National Coal Board) Regulations 1946.

Regulation 3 in essence requires members:

  1. a) to disclose to my right hon. Friend full particulars of any interest or securities held or acquired in any undertaking carrying on a business similar to that at any time carried on by the Corporation; and
  2. b) to disclose at a meeting of the Members of the Corporation any direct or indirect interest in a contract made or proposed by the Corporation.

I have no present plans to revise those regulations.
