To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many asylum seekers and immigration detainees have committed acts of deliberate self-harm in the last 12 months in United Kingdom prisons and detention centres.

Between 1 June 1992 and 31 May 1993, four immigration detainees, including asylum seekers, committed acts of self-harm while detained in immigration detention centres. The immigration status of those detained in prison who committed acts of deliberate self-harm is not known.
