Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) what recent representations he has received concerning distortions in the world trade in zinc ash and residue, zinc dross, unwrought zinc, and zinc waste and scrap; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what information he has concerning the tariffs, duties, taxes and other barriers to imports faced by those attempting to import zinc ash and residue, zinc dross, unwrought zinc, and zinc waste and scrap to and from India; and what representations he has made to the Indian Government, to the European Community, or through the general agreement on tariffs and trade negotiating process about those barriers;

(3) what steps he is taking to bring about free and fair trade in zinc ash and residue, zinc dross, unwrought zinc, and zinc waste and scrap;

(4) what information he has concerning the net balance of trade in terms of volume and value between the United Kingdom and India in zinc ash and residue, zinc dross, unwrought zinc, and zinc waste and scrap.
