To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what steps he has taken to repeal the salary ceiling for eligibility to travel-to-work expense claims

[holding answer 21 July 1993]: The travel to interview scheme is currently under review and the eligibility conditions are being looked at to see whether the resources available can be better targeted. The possibility of removing the salary limit is included in the review. Any changes to the rules are subject to Treasury approval. Subject to that approval, our intention is to implement any changes as quickly as possible.
