asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have studied the 1993 Barclays Student Survey, whether they are concerned by the levels of debt there recorded, and whether they are contemplating any remedial action.

§ Baroness Blatch
Although the survey presents some interesting data on student debt, its findings are not truly representative and cannot be extended to all students. We await the results of our own national student income and expenditure survey which will be available towards the end of this year. We will consider the implications of the survey findings in the light of resources available.
